2018 Will Mark a Milestone Year for Moanalua High School’s Class of 1986

We’re turning 50 this year! As they say, “Forty-nine was fine but 50 is nifty!”

We were curious to see what everyone wanted to do so we ran a couple of polls and you responded overwhelmingly in favor of a birthday celebration.

So to celebrate our milestone year, we’re going to Las Vegas and party like it was 1999!

Here are the details…

When: October 6-8, 2018

Where: Las Vegas

To keep everyone updated on the planning progress, we’ve set up a webpage at https://www.mohs86.org/50th-birthday-bash. Bookmark it and check back often as we’ll be providing the latest information on planned events. In addition, our Facebook Group is an excellent source as well.

Additionally, if you are still interested in joining us in Las Vegas and haven’t filled out our SurveyMonkey poll, you can take it by going here.

Please share the link with your fellow Na Menehune who may not have seen any of our emails or Facebook posts.

If you’re not in the Facebook Group or not on our email list, we can still keep you informed!

Simply fill out the form below if you are interested in attending and we’ll add you to our contact list!

Can we send you a text message? *Data and messaging rates apply.(required)

Aloha Menes!

We are excited to announce the launch of our Facebook Group: Moanalua High School Class of 1986.

The new group will allow us to keep in touch with fellow classmates and share updates about upcoming alumni events like our 50th Birthday Bash.

Over the coming days and weeks, we’ll be adding you as a member of the group. Alternatively, if you wish to join the group, click on the link and press “Join.”

Very shortly, we’ll be surveying all of you about our 50th Birthday Bash event. More specific details are forthcoming as we would like to find out who is interested in attending.

What If I Don’t Have A Facebook Account?

No sweat! We are collecting contact information such as email address and phone number so that we have additional ways of reaching out to you.

Please go to the homepage and fill out the “Let’s Keep In Touch” form to be added to our email list.

If you have any questions, please send them to me, Sandra Seki Miyama, at [email protected]. Or fill out the contact form on the homepage.

We look forward to reconnecting with you soon!

Hey Menes!

If you haven’t noticed already, our picture gallery is now up! Now, the thing is that we could use more pictures — especially from our Moanalua Class of 1986 10th Year Reunion. Random pictures of classmates are also welcomed as we’re starting a Miscellaneous Pictures Album.

If you have a photo or two tucked away in your home office or in your junk drawer and wish to share it with the rest of our class, please scan it (at 300 dpi) and send it to our email address: [email protected]. We’d love to add it to the class Gallery.

Additionally, we’d appreciate any stories, anecdotes and updates about you and/or your fellow 86ers. So feel free to send over as well. We’re planning to update our Blog and send out occasional email newsletters to those who have registered using our Let’s Keep In Touch form located on the home page.

If you have any questions or comments, please reach out using the Contact Us form on the website.

Hey AWESOME 1986 Grads!

I’ve been involved with the Moanalua Alumni Foundation for a while and we are looking to increase support for some very needed improvements to benefit Moanalua High School. (Note: Per our bylaws, we were not organized to provide scholarships to students, but to support the school.)

This year marks our 30th year reunion and we will be one of the “feature” honorees celebrating our reunion at this year’s Menehune Bash which will be held on Saturday, August 13. (It’s not too late to attend!) Traditionally, past feature honorees have made cash donations to the Alumni Foundation at this event as a challenge to the other classes to match or exceed.  It all started with the Class of 1983 headed by Craig Hirasaki when they presented a check to the Alumni Foundation for $1983 (does that amount sound familiar?).

I’m asking for your support to donate to the Moanalua Alumni Foundation. Our goal is to raise $1986 or more.  Last year the Class of 1985 headed by Gregg Arakaki donated $1985+. I think you will agree that we are better than all the other classes so we need to take out our wallets/checkbooks, sacrifice a cup of coffee or lunch and donate! There really is no time to say, “let me think about it.” We have a little over two weeks to get commitments and money in.

I heard rumors that the Class of 1975 goal is $2000.  I don’t think all 30+ of us that will be present at the Bash want to be put to shame. Let me ask you… “Are there 4 classmates with $500, 20 classmates with $100, 40 classmates with $50 or a combination willing to donate?”  The foundation will appreciate your donation even if it is $5.00. We are a 501(3)c non-profit organization so donations are tax deductible. Please let me know if you are in and how much.  I’d started our Class of 1986 donation fund with a $100 donation.

Payment can be mailed to:

It’s time to give back to our school.  Your donation will touch the lives of the students that pass through the school that we all benefitted years ago. Go Menes!

Aloha,
Sandra
